A Level Results 2016: Year 13 & 12 Examination Success

A huge congratulations to our Year 13 students on a fantastic set of results! Their hard work has secured excellent results at both A-level and BTEC. At A-level, 81% of all grades attained were A*-C grades. This figure exceeds the national average and is a considerable improvement on last year’s result of 74%. At BTEC, 86% of all grades attained were Distinction*,Distinction and Merit. Furthermore, every Year 13 student achieved at least 1 qualification equivalent to 1 A level (grade A*-E) and all students applying to university have secured a place to read their chosen subject.

A number of students’ achievements deserve particular mention.

Seamus Stinson achieved A*AAA at A-level and has secured a place to read Mathematics at Warwick University. Kelly Parker achieved A*A*B at A-level and a C in her Extended Project Qualification. She has secured a place to read Biology at York University and said on receiving her results “I feel amazing and am looking forward to living on campus.” Lucy Why achieved A*AA at A-level and will read Economics at Bristol. Alice Braden Achieve D*, D* at BTEC and a Bat A-level and will start her career in education at Theale Primary School. She said of her results, “I am so over the moon – I got what I was aiming for and I worked so hard. I couldn’t be any happier.”  Grace Hunt achieved A*AB A-Level as well as completing an outstanding Extended Project for which she was awarded an A*.  She has secured a place to read Conservation Biology at Exeter. Edward Burnett and Sadie Willis-Falkiner both achieved AAB at A-level and will read Economics at Southampton and English at Cardiff University respectively.

A number of our Year 12 students also sat modular AS examinations and their results were incredibly strong. An impressive 24% of all grades attained were A grades. Particular mention must be made of Louise Hossien who achieved AAAA and said on receiving her results, “A-Levels are so hard but I’m glad that if you work hard you can actually succeed.” Fraser Pincock and Alexandra Smith achieved AAA and Lydia Giles and Thomas Hoarty each achieved AAB.

We are proud of all our students' achievements which would not have been possible without their work ethic, energy, creativity and commitment. However,it would also not have been possible without the hard work and support offered by their dedicated teachers and from those at home. It is wonderful to see that we are building on the rapid improvement identified by Ofsted in 2015. Everybody who is part of the Theale Green community can be proud of these fantastic achievements.

We wish all of our students every success as they take up their places at university, enter employment or begin their gap year.

Our A Level Superstars!
