Dear Parents/Carers,

Another term has flown past and although relatively short, it has been as action packed as ever. Students in all year groups have worked hard in the classroom and beyond to ensure that they are on track to achieve or exceed their target grades. Year 11 students completed a second English mock and their behaviour and approach were exemplary. Our Year 12 and 13 students also sat their mock examinations this term and their results bode very well for the summer examinations. Of course, there is much to do and we wish them the very best with their continued revision over the Easter break. Some students have already completed their formal practical examinations and the Drama, Dance and PE students are to be congratulated on their fantastic performances.

This term we also held our Extra-Curricular Activities Fayre so that students could learn more about the activities taking place beyond the classroom. This was incredibly well attended and we have seen a marked increase in student participation since.

We were spoilt with the fantastic production of Oklahoma, our wonderful dancers performing at Rambert Dance Studios, our students competing in the Rotary Youth Speaks debating competition; coming a very close second and the wonderful Live Lounge music concert to mention but a few. We continued our sporting success at all levels and celebrated Blaine Lewis-Shallow's success as a national champion. We finished off the term with BBC School Report Day and Sports Relief which were both very enjoyable events.

Next term will come round very quickly and will see the arrival of public examinations for Year 11, 12 and 13 students. The written public examinations begin on Monday 16th May although practical examinations for Art, Photography, Textiles, Drama, Music, PE and Dance will already have taken place.

It is time for all other students to further develop their learning and understanding too. They will need to ensure that they have consolidated all that they have learnt this year in readiness for their internal assessments.  I have listed the details below and thank you for your continued support in ensuring that they prepare thoroughly.

 We also have a number of fantastic events to look forward next term including ‘Mort’ our school production, the Summer Extravaganza, sports days and our House finale to mention a few.

Finally, I am delighted to announce that we have appointed a number of new staff. Karl Byrne will joining us as Head of IT and Computing Science and Kirk Nailor will join the Mathematics department – both will start after Easter. We have also appointed a new Exams Officer and SIMs manager, Sharron Stevens, who will start in May and Anne Richards as Head of Chemistry and she will join us from September. We say goodbye, thank you and good luck to Bernard Assoun, Joan Jack, Karen Ward and Rachel Crowther.  

All that remains is for me to wish you and your family an enjoyable Easter.

Calling all alumni/students who attended Theale Green School in the past.

To collate and share the success of our former students, 6 of whom attended our recent Meet the Professionals evening shown above, we would like to ask for your help to spread the word and encourage former students to get in touch again.

For our current and future students, we want to create very short profiles of where our students go to in their further careers.  This will help strengthen links with our former students, help us to create a careers network and also inspire those who are still at school.

We need you!
To promote Earth Day on 22nd April both students and staff are going to be involved in creating an installation around the school.

The installation will be made out of recycled materials so we need any donations you can give of cardboard packets,plastic bottles, carrier bags and textiles!
